Chocolate Tea

This is one of my favorites on a cold day, and the spices will help to speed up your metabolism.  If you use yerba mate tea, it will add even more zip to your fat burners.

Chocolate Tea

1 cup fat free or non-dairy milk, such as soy, rice, or almond

1 cup water

2 tea bags…black or yerba mate`

1 Tablespoon raw sugar, or your favorite sweetener to taste

1 teaspoon chocolate syrup

1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon ground ginger

1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

~

Heat milk and water to almost boiling, being careful not to scorch it.

Remove from heat and add the tea bags to steep.

Cover and brew 2 to 5 minutes.

Remove tea bags and squeeze to get all of the flavor into the liquid.

Stir in remaining ingredients.

Serve immediately.

Makes 2 cups.

Note:  Green tea may be substituted in this recipe, although the taste will be a little different.  Any tea will work.  Try a variety to see which you prefer.  Some other suggestions are oolong, jasmine, chamomile, and nettle.

All teas are good for you.  They are plant-based gifts that are full of antioxidants!
